Promoting Energy Efficiency in Buildings – IPA

The project aims to sustain better designed new buildings and increase energy efficiency in existing buildings by establishing criteria for improvement, in line with building needs and typology analysis. In the scope of the Project, EU legislation will be analyzed and compared with national legislation, and national legislation will be aligned with EU legislation.

National Energy Efficiency Action Plan – Draft

This draft plan covers all types of measures that must be taken to reach 2023 and later targets for energy efficiency in Turkey.  It is supported by the Energy Efficiency Strategy Paper 2012-2023 which is the main strategy document of Turkey about energy efficiency. In this plan, energy efficiency is taken into account in different categories such as industry, residences, services and transportation. For existing buildings, the target decrease in energy intensity for 2023 is about 20%. Specifically for the renovation of existing buildings, incentives are foreseen.

Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings

Under the auspices of the German Climate Technology Initiative, the project helps reduce energy use in public buildings by 20 per cent. It aims to improve the legal framework conditions for energy consultancy services and increased demand for services and products needed for increasing  energy efficiency especially in public buildings. As the next step, the project is developing recommendations for amending the current Energy Efficiency Law and establishing additional standards based on EU directives.
